Weddingbee Extravangaza; The Details

After 10 days of not posting, I feel like I really owe you some visual goodies. Hopefully this post does not disappoint!

A few weeks ago, Mrs. Bee from Weddingbee asked me to help her decorate and plan a few aspects for an upcoming party she was hosted in her West Village apartment. The meet-up was full of past and present WB bloggers, vendors and even a reader or two. Setup was a big group effort - lots of girls came early to help lend a hand.

Mrs. Penguin cut paper in the shape of flowers. Pieces were layered to create coloful name tags.

I found two great signature cocktails to go with our yellow/gray and "bee" themed party:

Nectar & Hive
aka White Sangria

1 Bottle Dry white wine

½ cup Cointreau or Grand Marnier
¼ cup Sugar

1 unpeeled lime, thinly sliced (remove the seeds)

1 unpeeled lemon, thinly sliced (remove the seeds)

1 unpeeled small orange, thinly sliced (remove the seeds)

1 sliced peach

1½ cups halved green grapes

2 cups chilled sparkling water or club soda, or more to taste
Combine the wine, liqueur sugar and fruit in a large pitcher and refrigerate overnight. Pour into cocktail glasses filled with ice and top off with club soda. For the garnish, slice the strawberries partway, form the bottom up, and place one on the rim of each cocktail glass or wine goblet.

Honey Bee
aka Mini Me

2 tablespoons honey

2 oz. white tequila

1 oz. pineapple juice

3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
In a mixing glass, stir honey with tequila until it has dissolved. Add remaining ingredients and
shake over ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a pineapple wedge.

Mrs. Bee designed these antennas made from pipe cleaners, headbands and pop-poms. Yours truly is sporting one in the bottom photo.

All the bees at the party posed in front of fabric from Purl Soho. It was draped in the bedroom to create an DIY photobooth.

The Penguins'

Some silly photos ensued with the help of some awesome props

I made signs to accompany all the displays - including this for desserts and for the party favors.

Craft stations (Cricut, Gocco and Cuttlebug) were setup to showcase some of our favorite DIY helpers.

And a few days before the party, I made these calling cards (with my Gocco) for guests to exchange their emails and real names. They were fun keepsake calling cards - and we used them to help decorate the entryway.

For decorations, we created paper bunting from many different patterned papers. Mrs. Cupcake and Mrs. Onion helped me cut out all the flags from colorful scrapbook paper. Each flag was attached to the ribbon with glue sticks.

Mrs. Canary helped me assemble a few of the floral arrangements. They were sprinkled all around the room

Be sure to see some more of the recaps from this party on Weddingbee - along with a list of all the Bees in attendance.
