June 26, 2009 Michael Jackson: 1958-2009
There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said about the passing of one the greastest performers of all time.
I've been a HUGE fan of MJ since the age of 3 or 4. I first concert I ever went to was the Victory Tour in '84. My mom let us get all dressed up - me in a red sweatshirt with a silkscreen of Michael on the front. It even came with a white glove covered in glitter. My brother's each had on a pair of parachute pants and a red or black zippered jacket.
John and I bonded over our love for his music. To this day, I can't listen to Wanna be Starting Something without my shoulders starting to bouce.
When I was a little girl, this was the poster displayed on the back of my door (my first love)

And last night we watched our DVD of the show he did in Bucherest in the early 90s - this video of Smooth Criminal just sums up what a great performer he was.
Michael, if you're out there, just know that you will be dearly missed and your music will forever live on in the hearts of your fans...

It's incredibly sad as his music was such a huge part of our childhoods.
That first photo you shared = my favorite.
I completely idolized him as a child - as a dancer, as an artist. To the point: while the other kids dressed up as Super Heros and Ballet Dancers for Halloween -- when I was 7 I even dressed as MJ!
He will be missed.
