I'm thrilled to announced a new contributor that is joining us all here for the next few months. Lindsay is a devoted Inspired Goodness reader and over the next few months, she'll be checking in with us every other Tuesday to share some of her planned D.I.Y. projects for her upcoming May '09 wedding in Toledo, Ohio.
Started back in August 2008, her own blog, Kraftykolby has been chronicling a few of the plans – including a step-by-step capture of her very first print Gocco project, these printed cocktail napkins seen below.
Without further ado, let's begin the introductions...
Over the past year, I have managed to bookmark over 40 wedding related blogs. Some have come and gone, while others, such as Inspired Goodness, have made their way to the top of my “must-read-it-everyday-sometimes-twice-a-day-blog” list. In my town, weddings don’t seem to have much character and I knew from day one of our engagement, that ours would not follow that path.
I can’t even begin to explain the elation I felt when I was asked to blog for Inspired Goodness! I truly credit many of my creative endeavors due to ideas and projects I have seen on this site. We are aiming for an atypical Toledo wedding, which means no pink, poof, tuxedos, and roses. There are so many beautiful visions I have drooled over and modified to fit our earthy, natural, and clean styles. I can’t wait to share all of my DIY projects (trust me, I went overboard) and hopefully, will return the favor and inspire one of you!
Perhaps I should share our story…
My fiancé, JT, and I met in 1997, yes, 12 years ago, when I stepped into the halls of high school. I was a freshman, he a sophomore, who both had the misfortune of having to work in the summer to help cover tuition costs. As we began our friendship, we soon found out our families lived in the same neighboring small town and there had been many times where we probably met or ran into each other playing at the park as children, without even knowing it! Throughout high school, our friendship grew. We both dated other people and it never crossed our minds to date until 2001.
On December 17, 2007 he prepared an incredible proposal on my first trip to NYC. As I was being a dorky tourist, amazed by the bright neon lights, he dropped to one knee right smack in the middle of Times Square! Eight years later, we are still kickin’ it!
JT and I have grown together substantially over the years. We’ve attended different colleges, graduated college in the same weekend, supported one another in our career adventures, and are currently managing the stress of my Graduate school graduation 2 weeks before our big day. In 120 (holy-Toledo!) days, I can officially call him my hubby, a feeling I have had for 8 years running.
I look forward to sharing all of my thoughts, ramblings, projects, and wedding-related experiences with all of you! Please bear with my ridiculous eye for detail and unattainable need for perfection. If he has put up with it for 8 years, I think you will do just fine.
Here are a few photos from our engagement session we had this past summer with our awesome photographers from Shutterlove. Enjoy!
I hope everyone joins me in welcoming Lindsay (and JT) to the Inspired Goodness family!!
