Beach-Inspired Save the Dates

When my husband and I got engaged in the summer of 2006, we knew that an engagement party was on the horizon for us - hosted by my mother-in-law and her hubby. Little did we know at the time, that plan was to host the party in Ocean City, NJ at a beach house we were all staying at for a week that summer.

For the invitations, I had seen something along the lines of these years ago and thought it would be so much fun to recreate them for the party.

Here's a really simple step-by-step tutorial to recreate them:

1. Assemble all materials.

- 1 bag of sand (if you're lucky to live near a beach, go ahead and borrow some)
- A10 size cellophane envelopes
- Invitation (I printed these at work  - they are two sided; one side included the details and
rsvp info, the other had the address on it)

2. Insert invitations inside cellophane bags.

3. Seal up bags and presto! Send and enjoy!

Just a few tips:

The way I designed the invitation, it didn't require anyone to open them in order to view the information, but people nonetheless decided they were supposed to be opened and I got a few phone calls how the sand had gone all "over the car".  I got the a-okay from the post office before I stamped them (just to make sure it was okay with them to send the sand in the mail like that) - and they smiled and gladly accepted them. I'd recommend having them hand postmarked to avoid any problems too!
