I received an email today alerting me of the beginning of Engagement on Ice, a program the little elves at Rockefeller Center created to help all those men in our lives a simple engagement package that takes all the work out of planning a perfect proposal.
Come to think of it, I've seen a few engagements in Rockefeller over the years - walking to the F train on my way home from midtown, but I've never seen any done from inside the skating rink and would love to be a part of such a special moment!
The package which starts around $200, offers couples a romantic opportunity to have the rink to themselves - their favorite song is played and once the proposal is complete, a member of the skating staff will skate out to the center holding a bouquet for the bride. Of course, its all carefully pre-arranged by the groom, but a fun idea for sure! Dinner can also be arranged - with a window view of the rink for an additional $250.
New York proposal stories are always some of my favorites - I love this idea certainly but always have thought as this moment as a private event. Sure, there's nothing more romantic that someone shouting his admiration and love for you in from of hundreds of onlookers, just not sure its way I'd want to be asked.
What do you think? It is a great idea or just not your thing?
